OH MY GOSH did I ever need this past weekend. Life has just been coming at me a million miles an hour lately and by the end of last week I must have been a total treat to be around... Sarcasm, my friends.
This was EXACTLY what I had been needing. Emily, Melanie, Kathy, and I met up *early* on Saturday morning (thank you, Paul!) and began our roadtrip down to Minneapolis. I seriously think we talked the entire way there, pausing only to sip some Starbucks or have a quick bathroom break.
Have I mentioned recently how much I love drama-free girls? The only drama on the way down was the nasty-looking sky. I've never been more worried about a tornado in my life, and after arriving safely in Minneapolis, we saw on the news that there had actually been a couple of touch-downs in that area just after we drove through. SHUDDER. The weather was ominous in the city and the sky was black as night in the middle of the evening, but we were troopers and headed out to Ikea anyway (hehe).
After a bit of a lazy start, Sunday was spent at the Mall of America and then at Lilith. Ah, Lilith... You did not disappoint me in any way. We took in performances by Metric, Kate Nash, Court Yard Hounds (two-thirds of the Dixie Chicks), Heart, Mary J Blige, and Sarah McLachlan. It would have been fun to see ALL the performers - there were a few more earlier in the day - but there was no way I was up to that. The ones we saw were incredible, the only exception being Kate Nash. Her voice was awesome, but honestly, her attitude was so repulsive that the music didn't even matter anymore.
I was struck by how these musicians - with the exception of Kate - were all so grateful to be there and so in love with what they were doing. They were all STRONG women, in their own totally unique ways, and sharing their incredible musical gifts in their own totally unique styles. We heard almost every kind of music, without a single bad note. It was awesome, and the little bit of feminism that resides in my heart was smiling. There was a lot of singing, a lot of dancing, and a lot of screaming. Awesomeness.
After the concert, we caught the train back out of downtown and stopped off for a late-night snack before crashing WAY TOO LATE. As a result, the morning was a little sluggish, but we were on the road in decent time and did some moderate damage at the outlets in Albertville before hitting the road for real. We were again delayed because of bizarre (and kind of dangerous) circumstances - there was a major accident that shut down the I-94 and forced us to take a pretty major detour. We eventually arrived home, tired but happy.
It was a great weekend. It reminded me how important it is to maintain my own friendships and take time out for myself every once in a while - reconnecting with the things I loved to do before I was Lindsay the Wife and Lindsay the Mom, and just be Lindsay for a bit. I forgot how much I like her. I laughed a lot this weekend.
Cheers to Kathy for braving the hotel lounge with Mel and I in yoga pants and no makeup... hehe. It meant so much to be able to spend some real time with you, my friend. You are one of the most beautiful people I've been lucky enough to know.
Cheers to Mel for helping me sing my way through most of the Glee soundtrack on the way home. Life has gotten so busy, and you are one of those friends who I don't see nearly often enough - but when we do, it feels just like always. I love that.
Cheers to Emily for being your lovely, flexible self and for an entire weekend of Lindsay + Emily time. I miss you so much when we get so busy. You're one of those friends who just loves me unconditionally exactly where I am, and that's *so* special.
And, of course, cheers to Geoff for giving me such an incredible birthday gift :)
Emily and I had a date with Keith Urban last night.
I'm not a country music fan, but during my time as Emily's roommate she got me listening to Keith Urban and the Dixie Chicks. I couldn't handle anything else, but I learned to love those two... And I told her that I'd go to those concerts with her if they ever came to town. We did Dixie Chicks two summers ago, and then when Keith Urban's second Winnipeg show didn't sell out and they posted last-minute tickets at $20 each, it was a verrrry easy decision.
We had a great time. It was a great show - he's amazing live, and he plays a mean guitar. Oh, and he's kind of easy on the eyes :)
Geoff and I had Date Night at the Coldplay concert last night. It was lovely. We arrived in time to see all of the second opening band's set - Snow Patrol was good, but not *quite* as good as the last time we saw them. It was nothing against them. They're just a small venue band, and when we saw them two years ago, it was at a small venue (and they were the main performers that evening). I still liked it. But I'll admit that I was just a tiny bit distracted. Because I knew that in a few short minutes, that very same stage would host...
COLDPLAY!
We all know about my beef with Ticketmaster over our seats for this concert. I think I've bitched to literally anyone who would listen. And you can see from that photo that our seats weren't BAD... I resolved to go and just enjoy the concert because - hey - we were seeing Coldplay. And that's pretty darn cool. They were an AMAZING live band.
But of course, in my life, there's always a dramatic last-minute twist (and this Date Night was no exception). No sooner had we located our seats than we noticed an odd-looking platform in the middle of the seats about six feet in front of us. The evening progressed, and our initial guesses were confirmed as we watched a microphone and sound equipment being set up, and noticed that they were really tightening up security in our section...
Sure enough, somewhere near the middle of their set, Coldplay ran through the crowd and ended up on this secondary stage for a bunch of songs (including Green Eyes, one of my favourite songs, and a hilarious cover of I'm A Believer). Freaking six feet in front of us.
Yeah. It was a good Date Night. And fter Lenny Kravitz and now this, Geoff is officially in charge of buying all of our concert tickets (at least until his amazing luck runs out).
Why I Hate Ticketmaster, or Woohoo! We're Going To Coldplay!
Okay, so Geoff and I have tickets to go see Coldplay in Winnipeg on June 15. I'm pretty excited about it... But not as excited as I *could* have been. Let me tell you a little story.
Geoff got up early this morrning and went to purchase Coldplay tickets at the MTS Centre (we've had the best luck getting wicked seats for shows when we do it this way vs pre-sale tickets or ordering online). When he got to the window at 10 am, he asked for two of the best floor seats available - and the agent mistakenly typed in a request for four tickets. The tickets that came up were on the floor in Row 9, but we only wanted two of them... When the agent went to correct her mistake, the best tickets she could offer were in Section 127, Row 14 (for the same ridiculous price as the good seats, of course). We purchased these tickets because we really wanted to see Coldplay, but these are comparatively TERRIBLE seats, right at the back of the arena. It will be frustrating for us to attend the concert knowing that we *should* have been sitting in sweet Row 9 seats.
Anyway. I sent a nasty email to Ticketmaster, just to make myself feel better. And I'm excited that we got tickets at all. I know that I should be feeling zen waves of gratitude that we get to go, that we can afford to go, and all that other good stuff - but for the moment, I'm pretty annoyed.
I think I'm going to go watch Entourage reruns, and brew the very last of my Starbucks Christmas Blend bean stash. That always cheers me up :)
As a cautious follow-up to last night's post... I *may* understand now why women who are 9+ months pregnant don't usually attend rock concerts. Mama Lindsay might have been feeling mighty fine last night - but in the light of day, I must admit that I HURT and my back / hips have definitely felt better days. Like every other day other than today. I'm waddling, well, like I'm 9+ months pregnant.
Fortunately, I had the foresight to book another prenatal massage for this afternoon. I'm counting down to that today as excitedly as I was counting down to Lenny yesterday :)
Just to ensure no rumours are started, I did NOT have a baby tonight. Not even close. Which is kind of awesome because - as great as the story would have been - it would have involved my water breaking in very close proximity to my boss and his wife, who had the seats next to Geoff and I. And it would have been tragic to miss a single second of tonight's show (and miss out on getting to see a bunch of Cocooners, plus Anja & Kyle).
I cannot describe to you how amazing our seats were. I'll be trying not to talk non-stop about this and annoy everyone I know - but Row One for Lenny Kravitz wasn't just wicked entertainment, it was a life experience. We could not have landed better seats. And I could not have picked a better concert to have those seats for. It was an amazing show - one of those rare experiences where a musician you adore is better live than on a recording. He was everything I dreamed he would be. Love revolution, baby.
Oh, and did I mention that Lenny made full-on eye contact with me and threw out a nod and a smile in my direction (after taking in my very pregnant belly)? Because he totally did. I shall die happy now :)
Kyle shot a few videos with his phone that are RIDICULOUS. I still can't believe how close we were. I'll try to get my hands on one to share with you all soon.
I'm a little worried about 'speaking too soon syndrome' - but I woke up this morning with a *huge* smile on my face (and not just because my husband returned from his night shift with a half-caf caramel macchiato in hand for his highly pregnant wife). TODAY IS LENNY KRAVITZ DAY. And I am not yet a mother. Woohoo!
I've been working so hard not to get my hopes up about this concert, because I didn't know when Briony would come - and really, in the scope of life the universe and everything, I'd gladly miss a concert if it meant I got to meet my daughter. But now that the day is here, I'll admit to being pretty psyched about getting to enjoy *both* experiences :)
Still a few hours to go before we're all clear, but I'm feeling pretty confident. Of course, I've never done this before, so that confidence is based on ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Whatever.
In other news, the final few baby things we ordered online have all arrived now - my Bravado nursing tanks (which I'm NEVER taking off) and the incredibly sweet Small Potatoes nursing cover (thanks for the tip, Amber! - we decided on the Loft Espresso fabric, and I love it even more in person than I did online, if that's possible).
Well, maybe I spoke a *little* too soon. I may remove the awesomely comfortable tank and replace it with my Love Revolution t-shirt tonight. Assuming it still fits over my ginormous pregnant belly :)
Just a thought, but do you think it's coincidence that the Winnipeg Free Press is coming off strike just in time to cover the story of the crazy lady who gave birth at the Lenny concert? hehe
So, friends, you'll notice on the right side of this blog that we have less than two weeks to go before baby's anticipated arrival. You'll also notice that we have eight days left until Lenny Kravitz. I'll remind you again that Geoff and I have SWEET Row One tickets to this show, and that Lenny Kravitz is absolutely the *other* love of my life.
Now, I feel like God understands that I'm already missing the Quantum of Solace opening AND the Chris Cornell with Timbaland concert in November (which, admittedly, caused a few tears at our house - I blame hormones combined with the awesomeness that is Chris Cornell). I feel like he *wants* me to go and have fun at this one last 'I'm not a mom QUITE yet' show. I also feel that my theology may be slightly flawed here :)
Anyway, it's time: When do you think Baby Briony will make her appearance? And how big do you think she'll be?
Guesses in the Comments section, please :)
And as a special thank you for voting... Here's Chris Cornell covering Billie Jean. Happy sigh (and a single crystal tear).
So Curve launched on Friday, amid much fanfare in our office. I was not a part of that fanfare. I was sitting in a basement lab, trying not to puke up an otherwise empty stomach full of orange glucose drink and waiting for my next blood and urine tests (which were repeated four times in three hours). My mom graciously volunteered to drive in and sit with me all morning, which was awesome - it made the time fly by. When Curve was scheduled to launch, we made an excuse to the lab techs about needing something from the car, and then sat in my car and listened to the launch. About ten seconds later, there was a tapping on my window. I rolled it down and was greeted by an angry lab tech who wanted me to know that I was obligated to sit in their dingy nasty lab until my sentence had been served. And so we were dragged back to the basement.
I made it back to work for the afternoon, and the whole Cocoon crew headed out for a celebratory round after work (a round of cranberry juice with a healthy dose of heckling for the pregnant girl...). Then I headed over to Tiber River for a pedicure with Darcie. Kind of a perfect start to a Long Weekend, if you ask me. The colour is 'Naughty' (which made me giggle) and it's a pretty dark red - almost black - that perfectly captures the essence of Lindsay.
Geoff and I spent Saturday, Sunday, and Monday at the lake with my parents. Aaron, Kevin, Jessica, Rocky, and Emily joined us for the day on Sunday. It was a wonderful, relaxing time... I spent two afternoons on the beach, went for a couple of short walks, sat on the lakeshore, went to bed early, and just generally found myself again. It's absolutely insane to me that summer is over - and that next summer, we'll have a baby to pack up and bring along with us. I'm really looking forward to it, though. Hopefully, Briony will like the lake as much as we do :)
We returned to the Big City just as the rain started to fall. And just in time for me to change and meet up with Erin for the Oasis concert. It made me sooo happy. Seriously. One of my favourite high school bands with one of my favourite high school friends. The music was better live than on their CDs, even if their arrogance made them kind of terrible performers (standing there like you're god and initiating applause for yourself is not exactly modest). It was all part of the fun. And they played every single song I'd hoped they would - including Wonderwall, Lyla, Champagne Supernova, Rock and Roll Star, and (happy sigh) Don't Look Back in Anger.
And elsewhere, outside the Wright residence, a rather motley-looking crew applied the first primer coat of our new stucco coating. Unfortunately, they began on Saturday and then had the rest of the weekend off. And now it's raining, which I'm guessing will delay them again. Not the biggest deal in the world... Except that our earth-toned new house colour looks way beyond ridiculous with our old blue window trim colour (that we can't repaint until the coating is totally complete). Lovely. I know it will be very worth it... And in the meantime, I'm learning humility :)
Geoff and I took Baby to its first concert yesterday - Lupe Fiasco, N.E.R.D., Rihanna, and Kanye West at the MTS Centre. It was an absolutely amazing show, probably the best I've ever been to. It ran almost five hours long, so today's been a little sleepy. But it was totally worth today's fatigue to experience that level of musicianship and talent all in one place like that, with such an amped-up crowd. Very cool. I don't think I can pick a favourite performer of the night... If you held a gun to my head (which you couldn't have anyway, thanks to a ridiculous amount of security at the MTS Centre last night), I'd be tempted to say that - as cool and elaborate as Kanye's set was, that honour probably belongs to Lupe Fiasco.
And now Baby has an appreciation for rap... hehe.
Something cool... Janet Jackson flew into Winnipeg yesterday night and was there for Kanye's set.
Something less cool... Rumour has it, Chris Brown was there too.
And a noteworthy side note... The Free Press reviewer reported that N.E.R.D. and Rihanna were there, with no mention of Lupe Fiasco (apparently, an entire amazing 35 minute set PLUS joining Kanye for his encore doesn't count?). She also noted that SOS was Rihanna's breakout first single (not true). Sigh. You just can't trust the media these days.
I've been more than a little bit missing from anything even vaguely resembling a social scene lately. I'm just too tired to care. And this feeling of being about three months behind on seeing friends I've promised to see is overwhelming on a good day. This weekend, we had a few unavoidable engagements that sort of forced me to do my hair and leave the house.
On Saturday, Geoff and I were up pretty early so that I could line up for Oasis tickets (woohoo!). We've been having much better luck getting good seats when we go in person vs booking them online, and I can't really sleep in anyway - so we found ourselves at the MTS Centre just after 9 am. Geoff's not so much into Oasis, but he was kind enough to come with me while I scooped up some decent seats for Erin and myself. I'm definitely looking forward to reliving a few high school memories at that show on September 1 :)
From there, we went for brunch (horrible customer service experience that I'd rather just forget about) and ran a few errands. And then I had a nap.
In the evening, we made an appearance at Kyle & Jill's party with some of my coworkers (where I didn't drink AND stuck to my diet, thankyouverymuch) and then headed over to join Geoff's coworkers at a social (where I didn't drink, and ALMOST managed to stick to my diet). I made it to almost 12.30 before I was absolutely too tired to function and Geoff was kind enough to take me home.
Yesterday, we went to Geoff's church - he was doing sound - and then stopped in at George & Lara's for Zyra's first birthday party. That girl is so ridiculously cute, I don't even have words to describe it... And then it was off to Niverville to spend the remainder of the afternoon and the evening with my parents. I had a nap while everyone else watched the end of the curling final, then went for a walk with my mom, and we all ended off the evening watching 'Juno' together.
It was so nice to see my mom doing better. She's a long way from an official label of 'recovered from surgery' but she's made so much amazing progress this week. It's just so hard to wait.
And I'm feeling... ODD. I can't really describe it. It's tired mixed with queasy mixed with fat mixed with achy mixed with a combination of about seventeen other random emotions at any given second. I'm happy. I'm just... I don't know. I just am. And maybe that's okay for right now.
Okay, maybe not SERIOUSLY. But it still sucks. A lot.
I don't know what's going on this week - has it been that kind of week for everyone? I swear that all my clients went mad over the last day or two, and I'm just tired. This week has been full of so many emotions. It's been a loooong day. And I'm seriously considering calling it a night.
The good news is that my performance review at work is over, AND it went really well. Definitely an up on this week's wild ride.
And all MY favourite American Idol contestants are safe for another week. Another up :)
In the midst of my mourning over Lenny, I'll take it. Though I might wait another day or two to take down my blog ticker.
Lindsay is officially in mourning over the news about the Lenny Kravitz concert. It's postponed until October 29, though that date is only tentative. They're offering refunds now and reselling tickets when the new date is confirmed. I'm somehow doubting that we'll be able to snag front row floor seats twice in a row :(
My life is so tragic. I'm going to go cry now. Seriously.
FRIDAY: Um, nothing very exciting. I went to work, I came home, I dropped Geoff off at work, I came home again, and then I worked for a whole bunch of hours with the tv on in the background. My life is SO fabulous :)
SATURDAY: Let's see... I woke up, made myself some tea, worked for a bit, and then Geoff came home - with a couple of Kanye West tickets in hand! SO excited. Anyway. Then he went to bed and I got groceries and scoured a couple of book stores for this one particular title that I really needed for work (and found it).
Then the real work began... I whipped up a ginormous batch of lasagna - enough to throw a couple in my freezer - with all organic ingredients and things that I can eat. I won't lie to y'all - it's pretty amazing.
In the evening, I started reading the book I purchased. It's so intense. I'm writing a piece for a client who deals with youth issues, and I'm trying to learn as much as I can about cutting so that I can effectively write this piece from the point of view of a young girl who's thinking about it. This book was written by a journalist who spent years getting to know 50 cutters from around the world, and climbed into their heads and their lives to learn as much as she could about the issue. It's pretty heavy reading, but I'm learning so much. And I'm not-so-secretly enjoying wearing my writer's hat again for this project, especially because I care so much about it. It's a challenge, and I love a challenge :)
SUNDAY: Ugh. Stupid #&$^ daylight savings time. I HATE springing ahead. I'm one of those losers who feels totally off-kilter for at least a week after the clocks change, with that constant nagging feeling that someone's playing a giant prank on me and switching all my clocks to the wrong time so that I'll be early / be late / just generally make an ass of myself.
We went to Geoff's church in the morning because he was doing sound (don't you love how it's still 'Lindsay's church' and 'Geoff's church'?), and I got to see the lovely and talented Miss Meredith Daley there - which always makes me a little bit happy. I still think it's crazy that we ran into each other again at Geoff's church, of all places.
From there, it was lunch at Cafe Kohler (yum) and then an afternoon at the Art Gallery with The Boy. We *finally* checked out the Post Secret exhibit, and the rest of the gallery. It was a fun Sunday afternoon.
The rest of the day was spent reading and experimenting with a couple of new recipes (me), surfing the internet and shoveling snow (Geoff), and watching 'Run Fatboy Run' whilst laughing hysterically (both of us).
The Lenny Kravitz concert I've been obsessing about is now just ONE MONTH away! And the new CD is amazing. I love the sound, I love the vibe, I love the message.
So in celebration of this most auspicious occasion...
Guess who's coming to town in March, kids... LENNY KRAVITZ (my future husband). Yummylicious. And I totally adore his music. I could literally not be more excited right now :)
FRIDAY: Nothing to note here, really. I worked from home, fighting off extremely icky side effects on Day Two of my 'new and improved' double dose of the new meds. Geoff got home from work around 8 to find a wife who'd cocooned herself into a blanket on the couch, ordered pizza for dinner, and was determined to spent the rest of the evening watching What Not to Wear - and then sleeping (sleep, glorious sleep!). And that, my friends, is *precisely* what happened. No apologies. It was a super-long week.
SATURDAY: I was totally evil yesterday, and refused to take my pills until waaaay late in the day. Instead, Geoff came with me to see Shelly - a herbalist and nutritional consultant who I used to see. It was a great appointment. Shelly is eternally optimistic, and absolutely determined that we can work together to improve my quality of life with fibromyalgia through healthy eating, herbal supplements, and natural therapy options (while not discounting the role that traditional medicine will play). It was music to my ears. There's not really much we can do until I'm off my current meds - so I can't see her again for almost a month. But I was so encouraged to spend some time with someone who (a) believes that I suffer from a disease that causes me lots of discomfort, and (b) believes that we can do something to fix that. Based on my first couple of days on this new dose, I have decided that I need to stop. I can't handle this anymore - it's not a quality of life that's acceptable to me. Unfortunately, it will be a little bit of a process to wean myself back off (and I know that I'm risking a relapse of the pain I dealt with during the first half of January), but I think it's what I need to do. This is no life at all.
After my appointment, Geoff and I went out from brunch (I was starving because I hadn't taken my meds yet), and then Emily came over and we spent the afternoon at Polo Park and getting her make-up done before the whole gang congregated at Elephant & Castle downtown for dinner. Then Emily, Rocky, Chey, and I headed over to the Michael Buble concert. Lucky girl... Who else gets to celebrate their 28th birthday with a Michael Buble concert? What a very cool memory.
Um, AMAZING. We had such a great time - it was an absolutely incredible concert. I'd go into all kinds of details, but my friend Erin (who had *way* better seats) did such a fine job, I'll just link to her summary and you can read it here!
Because I waited until dinner to take my meds, I managed to make it until probably 20 minutes before the end of the show before my nausea and headache kicked in - so I could truly enjoy the evening. I'm sure my doctor would freak about my stupid decision, but I don't care. I have no regrets. Other than the tiny little fact that I was up sooo many times during the night because I was fighting extreme nausea and my legs were in lots of pain. Still, a mild price to pay for a very fun evening out with friends, in honour of Emily :)
Click here to see the pics from Em's birthday dinner.
Oh, and one other (random) thing that happened on Saturday: my car's odometre hit 200,000 kms. Now THAT's depressing. Geoff and I were half-expecting it to either die on the spot, or to spew confetti :)
SUNDAY: Today, we went to church in the morning and then picked up some much-needed groceries. Nothing much planned for the rest of the day. I'm feeling extra-nauseated today and am very much okay with just taking it easy before I begin another busy work week...
Thanks to all of you who continue to pray for us. I can feel your support, and I appreciate your emails and messages you've been sending me. I *am* going to get better - but it's a journey.
We're going for a triple entendre on this one... Are you ready? Hang on, here we go.
1. Okay, so I'm not one of those girls who is all crazy about members of boy bands - or former members of boy bands. But I do have a slight but very real affinity toward Justin Timberlake. HIs music is so much fun. He's ridiculously talented. And it's a total joy to go to a concert when you can tell the person on stage genuinely LOVES what they do. Em and I spent Saturday night with JT and we were not disappointed. It was a great show. I'm always slightly more subdued, but Emily screamed like she was 14 years old again - and we snuck in some shopping and dinner to make it a super-fun girls adventure.
2. On our shopping adventure, I managed to find superfox jeans. In 10 minutes flat. Which deserves a medal or SOMETHING. I literally walked into Gap, wandered around for a while, spotted The Jeans lying on a table, grabbed one size, and announced to Emily that these would be The Ones. She, of course, laughed at me. But I threw them on, zipped them up, turned around (come on, you KNOW it's critical that the butt fits perfectly), and... mmmmagic. Absolute perfection. I love when that happens (and it seriously never happens).
3. And my boy is home. He came back from camp on Saturday in the middle of all the JT hoopla, and all is right with the world again. Not like my world stopped turning while he was gone for a week - everything's just better when he's here. (And I'm pretty sure that - given the fact that I am marrying him in less than five weeks - I'm allowed to semi-publically insinuate that I think he's sexy? Right?).
So Geoff and I accidentally ended up at the My Chemical Romance concert this week. Long story, but basically, this amazing band - Muse - was supposed to be opening for them (we won't even comment on why MUSE was opening for MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE... anyway). They didn't. We found out a few weeks ago that they wouldn't be in Winnipeg after all. And so, we were left with some pretty wicked seats to a My Chemical Romance concert. After a little debate, we decided to go anyway - but we'd be going late because he was working and I had a class.
We got there a few minutes after the band started their set, and had to go through security. The security lady looked at my - in my pinstripes and heels - and smiled. 'We don't really need to check you, honey. Have fun.' A stop at the Tim Horton's kiosk netted similar results. As the lady there handed me my large double-double, she made a face and said, 'Sorry we don't sell Advil.'
At this point, I am pretty much panicking. Who the heck is at this concert?! We stepped inside and were immediately greeted by giant fireballs, a sea of screaming children, and a lead singer with a penchant for eyeliner, BAD tight pants, and jazz hands.
It ended up being pretty fun. But mostly just because I laughed hysterically through the entire thing. I don't know if I've ever felt so old.
So Feist is coming to Winnipeg, which actually makes me about as excited as JT. Unfortunately, she's in town when I'm not. But I'll be in and around Vancouver at that time, and know who's playing there? JOSS STONE. Which makes me probably MORE excited than JT - I know... The mind boggles. But the Joss Stone show is sold out. Which means that I'll just need to suck it up and be grateful that I'll get to see Justin this summer. Because that's still AMAZING.
Well, that was the attitude I had about it until I turned on the TV a second ago - and Joss is performing on Leno as we speak. And she's amazing. SIGH.
Sharing the journey that has taken me from being a single girl in the advertising agency world to a married mommy running my own freelance writing and consulting business (and every random adventure in between).
THINGS I LOVE: Thunderstorms, power ballads, princess camping, exploring new cities, Jon Stewart, greatest hits CDs, clever ads, packing for a trip, George Clooney, impractical footwear, movies about spies, Starbucks, reading an entire book in one sitting, a house full of friends, movies about spies, buying presents, a perfect French manicure, warm modernist architecture, getting flowers for no reason, being faux brunette, Mary Poppins, making lists on Post-It notes, decorating for Christmas, having a brilliant middle-of-the-night 'aha!' idea and then actually remembering it in the morning / THINGS I HATE: People who whine, wearing sweats in public, 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner, birds, American tourists in foreign countries, taking down the Christmas tree, poems that rhyme, the misuse of semicolons, being lied to, unpacking after a trip, being closed-minded, naming your kid something common but then spelling it stupidly, cowboys, overly cautious drivers, fake curse words, ridiculously long surnames, strangers who start awkward conversations with you in places you can't readily escape
