Questionnaire

So I'm doing Erin's questionnaire, not because I was tagged, but because I found her answers really interesting. And because I'm procrastinating and I really don't feel like cleaning my dirty house. And because I feel like I *should* blog, but I'm just not ready to talk about it yet. So here you go.

-

Would you rather be called hot, cute, or beautiful?
I have to choose?! Beautiful.

Do you have a little sister?
Yes. And soon I'll have two!

Do you like Taylor Swift?
Not really, but I'm not offended by her either. Just ambivalent, I guess.

Do you like to listen to the radio when you're in the car?
Yup, I'm a loyal Curve listener (though I'll sometimes plug in my iPod if I'm in the mood for something really specific).

Tell me a fact about the last person that texted you.
My Dad. And my fact about him is that I still think it's funny that he knows how to text. And that I helped to talk him into upgrading to a Blackberry this week. He's becoming so... current :)

When's the last time you ate at Taco Bell?
Last month. Geoff made me. It was greasy, but tasty.

True or false: Miley Cyrus is the most annoying person ever?
SO SO SO true.

Do you like to wear flip-flops?
Hm, good question. I do if they're comfortable and cute and not too sloppy-looking. My favourites are Kenneth Cole - a metallic charcoal grey with beading. I've been wearing them at least a couple of times a week, and I wore them to death last summer at work (I switched to heels just for meetings to help be a little kinder to my painfully pregnant feet).

Have you ever broken anything because you were mad?
No, but I agree with Erin - it would be SO FUN. Oh wait. Does cutting up pictures count? I totally shredded a picture of me and an ex, and sent him the confetti in the mail. Ah, high school :)

Do you like wearing headbands?
No, but I sometimes do the whole 'slave for fashion' thing and suffer through it for a day. Always regret it after about 45 minutes, though. You ladies know what I mean.

Have you ever watched The OC?
YES. Every episode, many times. I'm not proud of it.

When's the last time you had an Oreo?
No clue. That's kind of sad.

Do you like Chris Brown?
NO. He's abusive to women and I hope his career dies a slow and painful death. (Was that harsh? I don't care.)

Last December, what was your love life like?
Um... Friendly? Come on, people. We had a TWO WEEK OLD BABY.

Do you wash your hair in the shower?
Every single morning.

How are you feeling right now?
Tired. A little bit overwhelmed, but optimistic.

Last nap?
Not recent enough. A few weeks ago, maybe?

Want something you can't have?
See above question re Oreos.

Is there something that happened in your past that you hate talking about?
Yes.

Has someone ever licked your cheek or forehead?
I don't want to talk about it.

Last place you took a plane to?
Vancouver.

Own more than 10 pairs of flip-flops?
No.

What woke you up this morning?
The same thing as every morning: Briony jabbering away in her crib.

How many times is A in your full name?
Two.

Whats the weather like outside?
Dark. It was warm and sunshiny earlier today, though.

Are your fingernails painted?
No. I miss french manicures. Since I became a mommy, they've been chopped short and devoid of polish. Someday...

Are you taller than 5'6"?
I am exactly 5'6". Take that, quiz!

Do you have highlights?
Nope.

What were you doing at 8:00 this morning?
Hearing Briony and wondering if I should get up, or if I could sneak another couple of minutes of sleep before she got mad at me for taking too long to come and say good morning...

Last Faceook wall post from?
No clue, sorry.

Three days from now will you be in a relationship?
That's the plan.

Do you have curly hair?
Nope. Annoyingly *slightly* wavy, but straightened daily compliments of Mr Chi.

What is the farthest you've travelled with a friend?
London with Erin.

Are you close with your cousins?
I'm not really sure how to answer this one. Not particuarly, I guess. I get along with them, we're just busy people.

Is there stuff from your past that you miss?
Sometimes.

Name 3 thoughts you have at this exact moment?
1. I should really be cleaning my house.
2. I should really be doing homework.
3. I should really resist this temptation to eat.

What's something you really want right now, be honest?
Clarity. And maybe the ability to see into the future. Just a peek :)

Does anything hurt on your body?
Everything, but that's normal.

Are you going anywhere for the next summer?
Lots of time with my family at Falcon Lake, I hope. And if all goes according to plan, possibly a trip to NYC and Washington DC with Geoff and Briony in the early fall.

Have you ever liked somebody and never told them?
Yes.

Is there anyone that means a lot to you?
Yes.

Are you happy with the way things are going?
Almost all of the time. That doesn't mean it's easy, though.

What was the last thing you ate?
Vanilla frozen yogurt with fresh raspberries.

Who is the last person you hugged?
Briony.

What color underwear are you wearing?
This is embarrassing... They're totally hot pink.

Do you ever go in pet stores just to look at the pets?:
No, but this is kind of funny, because Geoff dragged me into one TODAY because he wanted to show Briony all the animals.

Is it annoying when your hanging out with someone and they text other people?
It depends.

Have you been under the influence today?
Nope.

Pick a word that begins with the first letter of your first name:
Laundry. Oh, that's sad...

Is there anyone that you care more about than yourself?
Yes.

How long is your hair when its wet?
Just past my chin.

Do you take compliments well?
No, but I'm trying to be better about it.

Will you be in a relationship in four months?
That's the plan.

Do you like to make the first move?
Depends. I used to... Now, not as much.

Do you hate it when people smoke around you?
It didn't bother me until last year. When I was pregnant, the smell made me gag and puke. And it still kind of makes me nauseated now.

Who was the last person you had an argument with?
Geoff, I think.

Do you know anyone that smokes pot?
Yes.

Did the one person who hurt you the most in your life apologize?
Yes. The funny thing is that it still hurts sometimes.

Did you go out or stay in last night?
Stayed in with Briony while Geoff worked a night shift.

Do you miss someone?
Sometimes.

Who was the last person you took a picture with?
Geoff and Briony.

Do you have someone you can be your complete self around?
Yes.

Are you worrying about someone right now?
Always.

Are you hungry right now?
I'm with Erin on this one: No, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't eat... :)

Top 40 Challenge

Your mission for this week, should you choose to accept it, is simple. Read this post, and then comment and tell me what you learned about me through taking a peek at my playlist. Then do the same thing - for yourself - on your blog or Facebook page. (Or just share your answers here so that I can be amused by them :)

TOP 40

Turn on your iPod (or whatever you have) and hit shuffle. Write down the first 40 songs that come up, and then answer 10 questions about them.

Rock & Roll Is Dead - Lenny Kravitz
Fell In Love With A Boy - Joss Stone
Everything Is Everything - Lauryn Hill
Champagne Supernova - Oasis
God Put A Smile Upon Your Face - Coldplay
Linger - The Cranberries
Billie Jean - Chris Cornell
Set The Fire To The Third Bar - Snow Patrol f Martha Wainwright
Mercy - Duffy
Come As You Are - Nirvana
Fading Like A Flower - Roxette
How To Save A Life - The Fray
Creep - Radiohead
The Way I Are - Timbaland f Keri Hilson
Hometown Glory - Adele
Black Horse And The Cherry Tree - KT Tunstall
You'll Think Of Me - Keith Urban
You Oughta Know - Alanis Morissette
Don't Look Back In Anger - Oasis
Piece Of My Heart - Melissa Etheridge
Love Lockdown - Kanye West
Cry Me A River - Justin Timberlake
Rock Your Body - Michael Jackson vs Justin Timberlake
Heartbreaker - Pat Benatar
Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own - U2
Mr Cab Driver - Lenny Kravitz
Super Duper Love (Are You Diggin On Me) - Joss Stone
Love Revolution - Lenny Kravitz
Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You - Lauryn Hill
Here Comes The Rain Again - Annie Lennox
Tell Me Bout It - Joss Stone
Yellow - Coldplay
Secret - Madonna
Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol
Apologize - Timbaland f One Republic
How Come You Don't Call Me - Alicia Keys f Justin Timberlake
On The Radio - Nelly Furtado
Let It Rock - Kevin Rudolf f Lil Wayne
Almost Unreal - Roxette
Billie Jean - David Cook

Which song on this list...

Makes you think of a friend?
Obviously, if I've seen any of these bands or performers in concert, then those songs remind me of the people I went to the concert with. Other than that... I'd say that 'How To Save A Life' reminds me of Mel and the girls, because our band learned that song last year and there are lots of memories tied up in that - happy and sad.

Makes you think of more than a friend?
'Chasing Cars' always makes me think about Geoff because we were dating when that song was played five times an hour on the radio by law.

Makes you dance?
All things Timbaland.

Makes you sing in the car?
Um, most of them. But Roxette is always the worst offender. You know that if we've ever been on a road trip together. (Amber, ask Orv about the Heart-fest he endured on the way to Jason's cabin a couple of summers ago... hehe. What a gentleman.) Oh, and I'm entirely convinced that I *am* Martha Wainwright in that Snow Patrol song.

Makes you remember something great?
All the Lenny Kravitz stuff, and you know why. BEST CONCERT EVER, even though my entire body felt like some sort of sadistic science experiment before, during, and after.

Makes you laugh?
Definitely 'Creep' because of all our Cocoon karaoke parties, and the thousands of times that song has been performed there.

Surprised you?
'Billie Jean' because it appears to be on my list twice... And neither time by Michael Jackson :)

Embarrassed you?
The Keith Urban song. It's all Emily's fault, and nobody was supposed to know.

Any overall observations?
Yep. I appear to be living about a decade behind the rest of the world :)

Anything you want to say in your defense?
Nope. If you hate my music, then don't ride in my car. It's really quite simple.

Quiz: Which Office Character Are You?

The Socializer: Happy hours, office parties and long lunches. You're totally a social butterfly and work is just one more outlet. Yeah, you get done what you need to get done, but you don't think twice about work when the favorite part of the day is hanging out with your coworkers, pulling some pranks, and taking long lunches. Be careful your work doesn't suffer and you don't make a bad impression. You want to leave with some good references eventually!

Well, I don't think I can *totally* disagree with this. But I'd like to think that I get a heck of a lot of work done in between my chatter. And yes, I'll admit that I talk my way through most of a typical work day. Right, Christine? Oh, I miss you. A thousand stupid little things happen in my life every day that just don't get shared anymore because no one else is polite enough to listen to me get all dramatic about each and every one of them... hehe.

Duelling Tickers

So, friends, you'll notice on the right side of this blog that we have less than two weeks to go before baby's anticipated arrival. You'll also notice that we have eight days left until Lenny Kravitz. I'll remind you again that Geoff and I have SWEET Row One tickets to this show, and that Lenny Kravitz is absolutely the *other* love of my life.

Now, I feel like God understands that I'm already missing the Quantum of Solace opening AND the Chris Cornell with Timbaland concert in November (which, admittedly, caused a few tears at our house - I blame hormones combined with the awesomeness that is Chris Cornell). I feel like he *wants* me to go and have fun at this one last 'I'm not a mom QUITE yet' show. I also feel that my theology may be slightly flawed here :)

Anyway, it's time:
When do you think Baby Briony will make her appearance?
And how big do you think she'll be?

Guesses in the Comments section, please :)

And as a special thank you for voting... Here's Chris Cornell covering Billie Jean. Happy sigh (and a single crystal tear).

My Personal DNA

Not sure how much I agree with *all* of this, but it was an interesting exercise nonetheless...

You are an architect.

Your preference for concrete, visually pleasing things, combined with your confidence and your respect for order make you an ARCHITECT.

You are logical and detail-oriented, which allows you to get things done efficiently.

You are quite sure of yourself, so that you tend to know the best ways of doing things.

Your eye for aesthetic beauty and style indicates that you know a lot about design.

Having a routine and sticking to it is important to you; you find comfort in tradition and familiarity.

Self-reliance is something in which you take great pride—you are confident and down to earth.

You have a basic faith in yourself in many areas of your life, allowing you to be self-assured when facing challenges.

You prefer to have time to plan for things, feeling better with a schedule than with keeping plans up in the air until the last minute.

You are a fashion maven, up on trends, but distinct in your own style. You don't follow trends, you set them.

Generally, you believe that you control your life, and that external forces only play a limited role in determining what happens to you.

You are animated.

You are outgoing, comfortable with others, and up for anything, which makes you ANIMATED.

Some people find crowds and parties exhausting, but not you! You are able to be yourself in many situations.

Sometimes it is hard for you to understand why others feel the way they do, but that doesn't stop you from trusting them or having faith that they are good people.

You know the world is complicated and that there is often more than one side to a story, so you are careful not to make judgments about others too hastily.

You would rather experience the world than sit back and observe it—you are not one to sit on the sidelines.

You are an independent thinker and don't get too worried about how others might perceive you—you are not self-conscious about being the active, engaged person that you are.

Although you have a keen understanding of different people's life circumstances, you occasionally have trouble seeing why people get so upset and emotional about things—they should just lighten up and have fun!

In addition to having faith in the world, you have faith in the people around you—you trust others to do the right thing and to be honest.

Erin blogged this today, and it looked way too fun not to try!

1. YOUR ROCK STAR NAME: (first pet & current car)
Misty Pontiac
Love it. We're off to a good start.

2.YOUR GANGSTA NAME: (fave ice cream flavor, favorite cookie)
Vanilla Oatmeal
Okay, that's SO funny... :)

3. YOUR “FLY Guy/Girl” NAME: (first initial of first name, first three letters of your last name)

Word.

4. YOUR DETECTIVE NAME: (favorite color, favorite animal)
Grey Raccoon
Okay, that's just dumb.

The Pink Martini
That made me giggle.

8. NASCAR NAME: (the first names of your grandfathers)
Cornelius Henry
Erin and I both have grandfathers named Cornelius? Amazing.

9. STRIPPER NAME: (the name of your favorite perfume/cologne/scent, favorite candy)
Romance Starburst
Wow.

10.WITNESS PROTECTION NAME: (mother’s & father’s middle names)
Marie Frank
Nice. I might actually use that if I ever require witness protection. Except... Oh, RATS.

11. TV WEATHER ANCHOR NAME: (Your 5th grade teacher’s last name, a major city that starts with the same letter)

15. YOUR ROCKSTAR TOUR NAME: (”The” + Your fave hobby/craft, fave weather element + “Tour”)

Saddest part of my pathetic rockstar tour name? I discovered that I don't really have a hobby. Memo to self: GET A HOBBY. Or get time to have a hobby, and then get a hobby. Because I actually almost put 'working' as my hobby. And that must mean something.

1. If you could live ANY one place in the world where would it be and why would you choose that destination?
Ooh, good question. I'm assuming this is a hypothetical. Because I'm really happy living in Winnipeg and I can see myself staying here indefinitely. BUT if I had to choose impractically, I've always loved London and the chaos and culture of that city made me blissfully happy. Lausanne's high on that list as well. Also on the impractical list, I think San Francisco is pretty fun (and AMAZING weather!). More practically, I fell in love with Montreal last summer and could see myself there for longer than just a vacation. Vancouver's great too, minus the rain - for some reason, I had an easier time dealing with the rain in London that I do in Vancouver. Anyway. Who knows what the future holds... But this girl's pretty content where she is.

2. Are you doing what you thought you'd be doing in life and if not, where did you think you'd be or what did you think you'd be doing at this time of your life?
Honestly? I am EXACTLY where I thought I'd be. I mean, my job is different. But I'm at the precise life stage I kind of always wanted to be at. I wanted some years on my own to get to know me and pursue the things that made me happy (once I realized what those things were). And now, I feel like I'm at a place where I really understand Lindsay and I'm able to share all those pieces - good and bad - with someone else. I'm finally at a place where I can enjoy a balanced relationship - no one's trying to 'save' anyone else. We're old enough to know what we're doing, but young enough that we don't need to scramble to start a family right away. If you'd asked me in high school, I'm following my timeline pretty accurately. Funny, the things that work out.

3. Are you an optimist or a pessimist (for the most part)?
I'd like to think that I'm a realist. I'm an optimist when it comes to others, and a little bit of a pessimist when it comes to myself - but I'm working on that.

4. What would be your dream job?
I'm pretty much doing it. I love meeting new clients and getting to know them and their businesses, collaborating to figure out what makes them great - and then helping them learn to communicate those great things to the right people, in the right way. It's so exciting to me to watch their business turn around, and the confidence they get from having a brand that represents them perfectly. Plus I get to work with a great group of people internally who all have varied and unique areas of specialty, and constantly show me how to see the world in different ways. I've touched on some image consulting in my work so far, and I'd love to have an opportunity to explore that more, and to get even deeper into the consulting part of my job. But all that will come.

5. And a fun one...if you were a paint color what would you be called (you know how paint has lots of fun/weird names)?
Um... Scared of Heights. And it would be a pale, perfect blue - the exact colour of the sky.

Friday Morning Quiz(zes)

Not so much a surprise, hey?

(PS - Who says 'crushing on'??? I'm pretty sure that's something that old, uncool people say to appear to be young and with it... but that no young person has ever actually said.)

You Are Most Like Charlotte!

You are the ultimate romantic idealist
You've been hurt before, but that hasn't caused you to give up on love.
If anything, your resolve to fall in love is stronger than ever.
And it's this feminine optimism that men find most appealing about you.

Romantic prediction: That guy you are seeing (or crushing on)? Could be very serious - if you play your cards right!
Which Sex and the City Vixen Are You?

And because I really needed to smile this morning... Here's one more:

Your Sloth Quotient: 17%

You're certainly not lazy. If anything, you're super charged, hyper, and always going.
Slow down a little. You can enjoy a slow afternoon without becoming a total couch potato.

Seven

So apparently, I'm supposed to make a list of the seven songs I'd choose as the only seven songs I can listen to for the rest of my life. For life??? Are you serious??? This is a very tricky question. But here is my list of songs I can usually listen to on infinite repeat, singing along at the top of my lungs - subject to change in about nine seconds, of course.

Yellow - Coldplay
Hit Me With Your Best Shot - Pat Benatar
Alone - Heart
Hungry - Kathryn Scott
Beautiful Things - Em Gryner
Again - Lenny Kravitz
Inside & Out - Feist

Strangely, quite different than my list of essential CDs I'd choose. And shockingly, no Madonna on the list. Very interesting exercise.
