Can You Help?
Siloam Mission here sent out a
plea for help today. They've been serving way more meals than usual to Winnipeg's homeless and they're super low on supplies. We're going to be heading over there in the morning with some stuff. If you'd like to send anything along, just get it to our place before 8.30 am tomorrow morning. Thanks!

Goodbyes
I just got home from driving Libby to the airport. It's going to take some effort to make sure that this doesn't turn into a sad day. It was just an absolute pleasure to have Libby living with us these past two weeks and a bit and she did so much to help us navigate this situation to find our temporary new normal in the middle of all the chaos. It made a huge difference in my world to have extra help around the house and she provided so much stability (and FUN) for Briony.
We'll miss her. I was incredibly sad to say goodbye today. And I'm kind of dreading when Briony wakes up and realizes that her 'Wibby' is gone.
But it was so special to have her here, and to have a chance to get to know her on her own. My nieces were all in high school already when I met them for the first time - and they're all full-fledged adults now - and it's been such a privilege to start getting to know them all as adults. The past two weeks have provided some fabulous memories for all of us.
As an aside, here's Reason #7829 why I love living in Winnipeg. I got up at 5.15 this morning to make myself a little bit presentable. I made coffee and helped Libby finish packing. We got her stuff out to the car and drove to the airport. I found parking there and we got her all checked in, then I stayed until she was through security. I paid for parking, walked back to my car, drove home, came inside, and made myself a cup of tea. When I sat down at my computer, it was 6.15.

Grateful
Gratitude is one of the least articulate of the emotions, especially when it is deep.
- Felix Frankfurter
Today was full of so many good things - a wonderful warm-up to Thanksgiving this weekend.
For starters, it is deliciously warm and sunshiny today. I got to take Briony to dance class this morning (Geoff took over partway through, but I made it almost half an hour - GO ME!). I had a venti nonfat pumpkin spice latte, BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS. I had a super productive day at the office. I met an old friend for lunch and had so much fun catching up and getting tips on delicious NYC sushi. I got a lead on a fun little PR client with a fabulous product that would be an absolute joy to help promote. And just when you didn't think it could get any better, Geoff + Briony will be here momentarily to pick me up for a walk at The Forks in this ridiculously beautiful weather.
Might I remind you, IT SNOWED LAST THANKSGIVING. Remember? Well, you don't really have to because I totally took pictures. See?

And it's 25 degrees today. If you're from Winnipeg and weren't thinking that you had anything to feel grateful for this Thanksgiving, I just gave it to you. SERIOUSLY.
This Thanksgiving, I'm making a goal for myself to just stay focused on being kind to myself. I think that we've made some good decisions as a family to keep this holiday weekend well-paced and manageable, but the reality is that my pain level is still sky-high and today's my first day in a week where I'm attempting to go without a nap (honestly, I'm starting to think that was one of my more terrible ideas). As cliche as it sounds - and as much as I hate cliches - this is a marathon, not a sprint. And it's making a significant difference in my everyday life to be embracing the marathon concept.
Happy Thanksgiving! Wishing you a weekend full of family who feel like friends, friends who feel like family, and LOTS of pumpkin pie.

Mmm... Girls Night!
Last night after work, I met up with the lovely
Erin and
Nicole to talk, laugh, and fill my body with carbs at
Kawaii Crepe. Awesomeness. I had The Uptown followed later by It's-A-Smore. Sooo good. We will definitely be making a return trip. And we will definitely be planning another Girls Night this summer. I've known Erin almost forever and Nicole for the last couple of years, and the combination was pretty darn ridiculous if you ask me. In the best possible way :)
