Book Recommendations

It's clear that we're embarking on a new adventure here... I'm curious to know - from parents who've been here before - which books you found especially useful at this stage.

Note: We already have The Bible (aka What To Expect The Toddler Years).

And I'm looking at The Happiest Toddler On The Block, just because I really liked the baby version of that one. Has anyone had any experience - good or bad - with the toddler one?

I hate to be the ass but really, your time is much better spent in hot baths with good novels. I doubt there's much in the books that you won't figure out on your own. The books always ended up making me feel dumb/guilty. When you need to know something specific you can look it up!

I'm better at recommending books FOR children if you want some...

That's fair. I don't tend to obsess over the contents of said books, but I'm generally curious about what to expect (haha) just because I haven't really spent time around kids before I had one.

Definitely interested in other recommendations! Briony's starting quite the little collection here already, but I'm sure we're only getting started. It makes my heart so happy to see that she already loves just sitting and looking at her books.

I think I asked other parents for a lot of advice. I simply didn't have much time to read. You have "the Bible" though which I found fairly useful.

I like Tannis' comments - right on:) A book I heard a man and his wife read together when they became parents was Proverbs:)

I have the What to Expect One for the toddler years, but I think I last read month 14 (and she's 18 months old). Either I'm loosening WAY up, or I'm too busy running after her. And she naps WAY less than she used to, so I tend to spend my "free" time catching up on my chores instead of reading books that usually only remind you there's no "normal" when it comes to kids!
