Oh, The Humanity...

Today was scheduled to be the day that I started for-real exercising again - more than the walks and 'mommy workouts' I'd been doing. I decided to entrust my get-my-old-body-back workouts to none other than Jillian Michaels (thinking that if she can make the Biggest Loser folks skinny, then there just might be some hope for me after all).

This will prove to be both the best and worst decision of my life. I made it through the warm-up plus two of the seven circuits and most of the cool-down, and this DVD totally kicked my @$$. My goal is going to be sticking with two circuits a day this week, then gradually adding another circuit every week or two until I can handle the full hour.

Pray for me... LOL. Kinda.

Haha, I just started her "30 Day Shred" DVD yesterday, and it kicked mine too. I'll make you a copy of that one, if you wanna switch it up sometimes - it's always good to do that :)

You're going to do GREAT! First step is just starting :)

What's admission to the show? Because I'd totally pay to watch this!

For fun, you should try and exercise with your daughter watching one day. I do pilates sometimes and Scarlett pretty much stares at me for the half hour like, "What on earth are you doing Mom?" LIttle does she understand that it's all her fault. Tee hee.

Sounds like an aggressive plan! Where do you find the time? Since Eva still puts up a fight when I try to put her down for her naps (I pretty much hold her or put her in the baby wrap for all her naps right now and it's getting pretty tiring) I'm trying not to even think about working out.

But isn't doing stairs and laundry with a 10 lbs baby strapped to your chest a good workout?? I know, I know, 10 lbs is not even a big baby yet, eh? :)

Best wishes and much success for your ass-kickery endeavours.

Marilyn - Thanks for the vote of confidence! I think I'll need more determination than luck :)

Amber - As discussed via email, we are totally on... 2 days down, 28 to go... Jillian is my bitch.

KA - I'm going to take your comment as encouragement. B loves watching me work out - lots of staring and giggling. That's a great confidence boost... :P

Sara - It's definitely trickier with a baby. Do you have a swing? B hated hers until around seven weeks, and now she LOVES it. It's an easy way to trick her into a nap when she's at that stage where you know she's tired, but she's still calm. But I almost always work out when she's awake - she just watches me. I think I've only had to pause to take care of a fussy baby once - it's great entertainment for her. (PS - I remember 10 pounds. That was a heavy baby already... But you're right, lugging B around is a workout and a half.) I say wait until you're ready... If you push yourself into something you're not really committed to, you'll just end up frustrated. It took me until this week before I was *really* ready to start anything serious. (And even now, I'm doubting a little bit. Which is why Amber is in charge of nagging me.)

Thanks for the encouragement, Linds! I thought I was commenting to encourage you. :)

I know I have not been ready to start anything yet either, but I have an appointment with myself to join weight watchers in two weeks (earliest time it works for me to get out to my first meeting). And I love your advice about letting the baby watch the workout.

Try not to doubt yourself once you've decided to take action and don't feel guilty if you miss a few times as you work into a committed routine. Guilt never helps, it just makes you feel bad. I know you know all this. You can do it!
