Friday Smile
I can't move furniture or paint to get ready for this baby. But one thing that I can do - and I'm starting to work on - is creating my own compilation CD of lullabies. I'm thinking less 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' and more 'Songs That Mommy Actually Likes to Listen To.' And if I can sing along to them, all the better. On my list so far:
Lullaby (Dixie Chicks)
Lullaby for Wyatt (Sheryl Crow)
They don't need to be lullabies, per se. These first two ideas I had just happen to be. They also happen to be a little bit country, which is funny to me. Whatever. I love them.
So... Any ideas to add to my list?

Small by Amanda Falk. I had it on repeat in the hospital when I had Kai. Puts everything into perspective.
Oooh! I did the same thing when I had Palmer. These were some of my favorites.
1. Sarah Harmer "Go To Sleep"
2. Jack Johnson "Lullaby" (This is off the Curious George Soundtrack which is AWESOME! So many good tracks and is perfect for parents who don't want to be tortured with super kiddie tunes. Lullaby is a soft one - my two other fave soft songs off it are "Wrong Turn" and "With My Own Two Hands". For upbeat, my personal faves are "The 3R's" and "The Sharing Song".
3. Jane Siberry "Calling All Angels" is lovely.
4. Cat Power "Sea Of Love" - yup, it's a remake. Soft and sort of melancholic.
5. Holly Cole "I Want You"
6. Joni Mitchell "Both Sides Now" - the "Love Actually" version. Not exactly the happiest lyrics, but I still love it.
7. Not lullabies but good songs about kids and growing up that make me smile every time I hear them. Both by Ben Folds "Gracie" and "Still Fighting It".
Mel - You just made me cry. It's absolutely perfect.
Nicole - Awesome. I'm familiar with a few of them, but they all sound perfect! I'll check them out...
"lullaby" by creed, "my child" by plumb, or anything by plumb (she writes a lot of songs about her children)
In my arms by Plumb - Amen sister. I bawl everytime I hear that song. It starts with a description of Malakai and I can't stand it. "Your baby blues, so full of wonder, your curly q's, your contagious smile..."
Safe in my arms by Plumb
The Virgin's Lullaby by The Nativity Voices (from The Nativity Story Soundtrack - Sacred Songs). This song is absolutely gorgeous.
oh, didn't read the comments before I posted. Go Plumb Go!
