Monday Secret
Inspired by our trip to the US of A this weekend.
After much debate, I have decided how I'm voting in our federal election. It involves spoiling my ballot - instead of my usual support of the Green Party. But I will do it quite gleefully. Stay tuned :)

I've always thought that spoiling a ballot is a bit of an empty gesture because nobody knows why, or whether you even did it intentionally -- the pencil might have just slipped or whatever. I have done it, though, when I honestly thought there were no candidates worth voting for...then wondered if I would have been better off joining the masses who don't vote at all (they're basically "saying" the same thing).
Nowadays, with most federal ridings being contested by at least four parties, it's not hard to find one that is at least in the ballpark in terms of sharing your values. I'll continue voting Green as a protest (and affinity) vote unless another candidate has even the tiniest chance of unseating our odious MP, none other than the infamous Stockwell Day. Never going to happen sadly, but I would even vote Liberal as a lesser-of-evils sorta thing if I thought it might get Stockwell (and hopefully Harper) out.
It's a tough one, hey?
I still believe that if you didn't show up to vote, you forfeit the right to complain about government for the next four years (or however long it happens to be before our Canadian powers-that-be decide to call another election).
I won't make my *final* decision until the all four major national parties have had their chance to share their campaign platforms and state their cases.
Can we vote for Obama? hehe
