The One Where We Arrive 'Home' In BC

Tuesday, September 01.09

Caught an early flight to Winnipeg. Got smart and called ahead for a minivan instead of a traditional taxi (they're mostly hybrids now, and while I fully support that, it's pretty close to impossible with baby stuff and a time limit). Sat in the backseat with Briony who'd been woken up and shoved into some clothing about ten minutes earlier, and she smiled at me like 'I have no idea what's going on, but I think it's going to be fun!' Thought to myself for the millionth time that I really, truly love this kid.

Had an uneventful flight except for the fact that Briony did not sleep. Not one wink. And despite the fact that she was rubbing her eyes and getting fussy even prior to take-off. Sigh. She fussed a bit, screamed for a couple of seconds, but mostly just hung out with us.

Arrived in Vancouver, met up with Marilyn (Geoff's mom). Headed straight to White Rock. Met up with my parents and saw Aaron + Cait's new place. Ate at IHOP. It was delicious. Drove to the pier at the end of Aaron + Cait's street and walked along the water. Breathed in fresh cool saltwater air and felt like we were back on the coast.

Drove to Abbotsford. Crashed hard. Oh yeah, and Briony started crawling.

Hey, we got to see your folks! They popped by for a surprise visit in Summerland -- quite a treat.
